  1. Q1. What is the scope of regulations included in the AJCSD?
  2. A1. Regulations on industrial chemicals are focused. The list of regulations fed in the AJCSD is available when you click “Substance Lists” in the top page.
  1. Q2. Who provides the information of the AJCSD?
  2. A2. Government authorities of each member country provide the regulatory information and GHS classification results. Sample SDSs are voluntarily provided by private companies.
  1. Q3. Who operates the AJCSD?
  2. A3. The operator is National Institute of Technology and Evaluation (NITE) in Japan.
  1. Q4. How often is the information of the AJCSD updated?
  2. A4. It is expected that member countries update in a timely manner.
  1. Q5. How can I change the language setting in the AJCSD?
  2. A5. Language can be selected at the top page.
  1. Q6. As a result of search, only numbers and the chemical name are displayed. How can I find details of the chemical?
  2. A6. The search result is "Interim Search Results". The interim search result table is simply composed of numbers and the chemical name. By clicking the leftmost sequential number, related comprehensive information will be displayed.
  1. Q7. If a chemical substance is not found in the AJCSD, does it mean that the substance is not regulated under any law or regulation?
  2. A7. It does not mean that the substance is not regulated. The reasons are 1) the AJCSD is CAS RN-based and contains only chemicals with CAS RN, and 2) the AJCSD has been developed on a voluntary basis, the information update may not be perfect. Therefore it is recommended using the AJCSD as a reference. The detail and the practical information may be inquired from the contact information page to each country.
  1. Q8. Why do some laws or regulations have no target chemical substances? Do they regulate no specific substances?
  2. A8. In this case, the substance list has not been provided yet by the member country. The substance list will be displayed upon receipt by the operator of the AJCSD.
  1. Q9. Why some substances have neither CAS RN nor substance name in the General Information field at the Search Result page?
  2. A9. In this case, CAS RN of the substance has not been provided yet by the member country. Therefore the operator of the AJCSD cannot identify the substance. When the CAS RN is provided by the country, other information of the substance can be shown.
  1. Q10. What system of writing molecular formula is applied in the AJCSD?
  2. A10. The same system as that of CAS RN is applied. In this system, multicomponent molecular (For example, salt, adduct, mixture, copolymer, hydrate and alloy) is written by connecting each molecular formula mutually with a period. Additionally, the Hill system is applied in the writing order of constituent element. In these systems, a molecular formula of sodium carbonate is "CH2O3.2Na" by connecting "CH2O3" and "Na" with a period.
  1. Q11. Is the AJCSD subject to fees?
  2. A11. No. The AJCSD is a free-of-charge online database.
